The choice of different frameworks per edition is not arbitrary. fcitx5 works consistently and transparently in GTK and Qt-based desktop environments that do not have their own input management system. GNOME, on the other hand, manages input natively through ibus, making this integration more straightforward and stable.
Automatic keyboard detection
One of the most significant advances in this build is the intelligent behavior during installation. Calamares detects the keyboard layout chosen by the user and acts accordingly: if Japanese, Chinese or Korean was selected, the full CJK input stack is kept installed and ready to use. If any other language was chosen, the packages are automatically removed, leaving the system free of unnecessary components.
This means that a user installing Synex in Spanish, German or any other non-Asian language will have no trace of the CJK stack on their system. And a Japanese user will have everything available without needing to configure anything.
Current status
IceWM is excluded from this implementation due to the particularities of its environment, which do not allow an out of the box integration comparable to the other editions.
This remains a development build. We invite the community, especially Japanese-speaking users, to test it and share their experiences at forum.synex.ar, and to report any issues through the ticket system on SourceForge.
