We are pleased to announce that a new download mirror hosted on the project's own infrastructure is now in operation. The Synex ISO images are available from now on at https://repo.synex.ar/iso/, in addition to SourceForge, which continues to operate as it has until today.
Structure and content
The mirror keeps the same organisation already used on SourceForge. The images are grouped into two branches:
https://repo.synex.ar/iso/stable/— the stable branch, which includes the desktop editions and Synex Serverhttps://repo.synex.ar/iso/semi-rolling/— the semi-rolling branch, based on Debian Testing
Each image is accompanied by its SHA-256 checksum file, so that verification prior to creating the installation medium can be done without relying on another source.
Which versions are published
The mirror publishes only the latest available version of each branch. When a new revision appears, the previous one is withdrawn.
This criterion has a practical consequence worth keeping in mind. For the stable branch, the complete version history remains on SourceForge, so anyone who needs an earlier revision can turn to it there. For semi-rolling, by contrast, previous images are not kept on any mirror: given the nature of the branch, the current image is always the one to use.
Why an in-house mirror
Having distribution on its own infrastructure gives the project a download channel that does not depend on third-party services, and complements the APT repository already running on the same domain. SourceForge remains the primary mirror and the historical archive, with no changes to how it works or to the existing links.
Availability
The images are available on both mirrors. As always, we recommend verifying the checksums of the downloaded images before creating the installation medium.
